A General Framework for Argumentation-Based Negotiation

چکیده
Past years have witnessed a growing interest in automated negotiation as a coordination mechanism for interacting agents. This paper presents a generic, problemand domain-independent framework for argumentation-based negotiation that covers both essential agent-internal and external components relevant to automated negotiation. This framework, called Negotiation Situation Speci cation Scheme (N3S), is both suited as a guideline for implementing negotiation scenarios as well as integrating available approaches that address selective aspects of negotiation. In particular, N3S contributes to the state of the art in automated negotiation by identifying and relating basic argument types and negotiation stages in a structured and formal way.

Contract - based Negotiation via Argumentation (
Negotiation is often described as the process by which agents come to a mutually acceptable agreement about some subject. We present a general model of contract-based negotiation and propose a logic programming-based argumentation framework to c...
متن کاملA Framework for Argumentation-Based Negotiation
Many autonomous agents operate in domains in which the cooperation of their fellow agents cannot be guaranteed. In such domains negotiation is essential to persuade others of the value of co-operation. This paper describes a general framework for negotiation in which agents exchange proposals backed by arguments which summarise the reasons why the proposals should be accepted. The argumentation...
متن کاملA formal analysis of the role of argumentation in negotiation dialogues
This paper proposes an abstract framework for argumentation-based negotiation in which the impact of exchanging arguments on agents’ theories is formally described, the different types of solutions in negotiation are investigated, and the added value of argumentation in negotiation dialogues is analyzed. We study when, how and to which extent an exchange of arguments can be beneficial in negoti...

The negotiation mechanism is based on an abstract preference based argumentation framework where both epistemic and practical arguments are taken into consideration in order to decide about different strategic issues. متن کاملArgumentation and Artifacts for Negotiation Support
Negotiation is a central process in an agent society where autonomous agents have to cooperate in order to resolve conflicting interests and yet compete to divide limited resources. A direct dialogical exchange of information between agents usually leads to competitive forms of negotiation where the most powerful agents win. Alternatively, an intelligent mediated interaction may better achieve ...
